I don't think we're in Kansas anymore Toto...

This beast of a tornado was a very unwelcome visitor to our neck of the woods. It was no more than 5 miles away from our house! All together there were 7 tornadoes that day. (Last Fri) Our two foster kids Danny and Emilie, were in lockdown at their school because the tornado went right by them.
Today Jim and I drove to the town of Windsor(10 min away) which was truly devastated. The damage was unbelievable. Entire neighborhoods were completely destroyed. The images on t.v. are nothing compared to seeing it with your own eyes. Yesterday we went to church and there were no men there! The stake had a quick sacrament for about 300 guys and they spent the whole Sunday working in Windsor. I thought it was a really wonderful thing to spend your Sunday serving others.
Anyway, it was quite the exciting (not in a good way) weekend.
We have experienced Hurricaines(Virginia), Earthquakes, (Japan) and now tornadoes. It sure makes you feel small!
The day we drove into VA while we were moving there, we drove right into Hurricaine Floyd. Then just weeks before moving to Japan, another hurricaine, can't think of the name, came to town, and we were actually evacuated in a flat bottom boat with water up to our waists. Jim had Kimrie on his shoulders, and I had garbage bags on my head with our stuff! Luckily we had put all our pictures and valuable things upstairs, our couches were up on kitchen chairs, and all was well. Then we move to Japan, we hadn't been there a week when I was sitting on the floor playing with Kimrie. All of a sudden the floor started rolling like waves on the ocean. It was the wierdest thing I've ever felt. It wasn't bouncy and shaky, it was smooth. I remember being so upset because it was freezing outside and Kimrie was just in her diaper. What if we had to go outside afterward? Then while spending 3 years in Japan, we felt zillions of earthquakes, most of the other ones felt bouncy and shaky like you'd imagine. Then we have our tornado. I just need a volcano. But I'd be fine without that one thank you. Although I am from Washington and was there for Mt. St. Helens. So there you go, I'm done.
I don't mean to be flippant about scary situations, I truly hope all the people affected by this tornado and other natural disasters are filled with peace and hope!

I was wondering if you were in CO for it... I'm glad that you guys are okay. Do you have any house damage?

You have foster kids?

Wow - you have definitely encountered some natural disasters! I heard an earthquake in CA - I tried to feel it when I heard the windows rattling. It was a Wed. and there had been one on Sunday. It was an aftershock, so that's why the rattling made me think about it. The news said that the aftershock was at that time, but I was disappointed (kind of) not to be able to feel it.

Wesley's baptism in on Saturday. You'd be welcome to come and come over after. We can plan another time to get together, too.

Where do you guys live now? I can't believe how big your girls are. They grow up to fast. They are beautiful just like there mom.
I hate Tornados. When we lived in Kansas when I was a kid.I remember having the house next door and across the street destroyed, but ours was always untouched. I'm glad you guys are ok. I love the music. I'm glad you found us. Lets keep in touch.
